At Poynton Sports Club, Table Tennis matches are played on Monday and Tuesday nights, from September until April. In the coming season (2018/19) we have four teams playing in the Wilmslow and District Table Tennis League, with 2 teams in Division 2, and 2 in Division 3.
On match nights, each team comprises three players from the registered squad for that team. Each team member plays each opposing team member making nine singles sets in each match. There is also a single set of doubles, making ten sets in total. The match score is simply the number of sets scored by each team (eg. 7-3). Each set is the best of five games, each of which is the first to 11 points. Matches start at 7.30pm and typically finish at around 10.00pm.
Away matches are usually at venues within five miles of Poynton.

The League’s website is normally updated weekly during the season where progress of all our teams and players can be seen.
We are always looking for new players for the Table Tennis Section. In the close season (May to August), we tend to have practices on Monday and Tuesday evenings during late August and early September, but other nights are possible by arrangement.
Players wishing to explore the possibility of joining the Section are usually invited to come to the Club on a practice night to see the facilities and standard of table tennis, and also for the Section to assess their standard and where they might fit in to the teams.
