Tennis

Poynton Sports Club’s Tennis roots date back all the way to 1912 when a number of the cricketers at the time, along with their wives and girlfriends, decided they wanted to try their hand at the sport which was still in it’s early years. Tennis proved so popular amongst the inhabitants of Poynton that 4 grass courts were quickly constructed, keeping the groundsman of yesteryear exceptionally busy.

Fast-forward 100 years and Poynton Tennis Club is as busy as ever and has 4 AstroTurf courts and 3 Hard Courts, all of which have floodlights, with training camps and competitions running throughout the Summer and even the Winter. Individual and group coaching sessions rub by the Club’s Head Coach, Michael Atherfold, are available to all ages and abilities during the day or in the evenings.

The Tennis section welcomes new members, whether you are new to the game or a seasoned player. For more information, check out the Tennis section’s own website at https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/PoyntonSportsClubTennisSection & the coach’s website at  Point-OneTennis.org.
